The Fierce Lions
The lions are taken from the city's coat of arms on the Waag. There, they appear as decorative figures. Here, they stand on their own, enlarged and separated from one another. They spray water at each other, like two cats challenging one another.
The space between the figures is just as important. Looking through it, you see the city beyond. This fountain is about what happens in between. What might otherwise go unnoticed suddenly comes into view.
