The Vuurboetsduin is located on the western half of the island, which at 42 metres is the highest point in Friesland. Vlieland is a real bird island and birdwatchers will really enjoy all the different type of birds that call Vlieland home. All of this beauty can be visited by bike, on foot or on horseback because Vlieland is car free.
In the summer, festival lovers can indulge themselves at the famous ‘Horizontoer’, the ten-day cultural festival that takes place annually on the island. Over 100 artists take part in this festival.
