Restaurant 't Ailand Lauwersoog "Eat what the Wadden Sea serves"
In 2011, Carlo Petrini, founder and chairman of Slow Food International, opened tasting room 't Ailand. An initiative by Jan and Barbara Geertsema, (Goede Vissers) Good fishermen TS31 - "fishermen with respect for the sea".
In the Restaurant you can taste different types of North Sea fish from Goede Vissers and their fellow fishermen and the famous Wild Watts Oysters, which Jan and Barbara collected on the Watts, by hand. These oysters have the Waddengoud quality mark (certified local product). Various other local products are also served and sold. Fishtours & Fishworkshops
Meanwhile the restaurant has been expanded with an adventurous offer in various fishtours on the Wadden Sea and in the adjacent chilled filleting room and fish workplace, workshops are offered in which you learn to fillet fish, smoke fish or cook or process seaweed.
