This church is unique in the north of the Netherlands because it has a crypt beneath the raised choir, covered with groin vaults. The main tuff-stone church dates back to the 11th century, but the crypt was likely added later.
In 1525 the church was enlarged with a Gothic side aisle, creating a second nave. Inside you’ll find carved tomb slabs (including a large Renaissance slab from 1561), an early sandstone Renaissance epitaph, a 19th-century pulpit, and an organ built in 1892.
