Children's Farm Doniastate was founded in 1997. It is the largest and most visited petting zoo in Friesland. More than 75,000 people are now arriving every year. That is a lot, but it is never really busy. The petting zoo is more than 6 hectares in size.

Doniastate is the first recognized children's farm in Friesland. The fact that the petting zoo is a fun day out is evident from the fact that Doniastate was chosen by the members of the ANWB as the best outing of Friesland in 2011.
