Pure Architecture Route - Welcome to Manhattan Water Adventure Trail
This section of the Pure Architecture Route features more modern architecture in and around the centre of Leeuwarden. On Tesselschadestraat, also known as Leeuwarden’s miniature Manhattan, we get to see the Functionalist-style buildings designed by Dutch architect Abe Bonnema. Recent acquisitions spotlighted along the trail include the OBE Language Awareness Centre, the Elfstedenhal ice skating rink and the mist fountain created by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. And at Prinsentuin park in Leeuwarden, a beautiful place to stop for a while, we take a brief but fascinating dive into history.

11Fountains Leeuwarden

Elfstedenhal
The Elfstedenhal (Eleven Cities Hall) is the ice rink of Leeuwarden. The hall has a 400-meter track, a 30x60 centre field and an ice hockey rink.
De Koperen Tuin
On the edge of the centre, within the city canals, is the monumental city park the Prinsentuin. You will meet in the green heart of Leeuwarden. Two car parks within walking distance ensure a smooth reception.
