Have you ever wondered how aristocratic families once lived? Find out on this historical walk as Dutch journalist and television presenter Jort Kelder leads you through the picturesque little villages of Olterterp and Beetsterzwaag and stops at several traditional country houses.
Jort: ‘On this historical walk I take you to the Frisian villages of Olterterp and Beetsterzwaag. Both have a rich history. From the 18th century onwards, members of the Frisian nobility and their families lived in this area. I explain how these villages and their surroundings were richly influenced by these aristocratic families and their lucrative investments in the region. During this walk through ‘the other Friesland’ we stop at several country houses and see how members of the nobility once lived in the villages of Olterterp and Beetsterzwaag.’
