The tenth section of the Bonifatius Kloosterpad Monastery Route starts in the village of Bontebok, which developed at the crossing point of a country road and a waterway. The village was named after the famous inn that once stood here.
An unpaved road leads through woods and along wooded banks, via the village of Katlijk with its beautiful St Thomas church and bell tower, and the village Mildam, to the regal setting of Oranjewoud. You pass the monumental concrete structure of the Belvedère Watchtower and then the Belvédère Museum of Modern Art and continue on to the little villages of De Knipe, Tjalleberd and Luinjeberd that lie north of Heerenveen. You end up at the village of Terband.
Take a moment to admire the little white church next to the motorway. At sunset it turns gold and is a captivating sight for passing motorists. It is possible to spend the night here.
