Hobbe van Baerdt Church in Joure

This church is named after Hobbe van Baerdt, who, as ‘grietman’ (a kind of mayor), presided over the former municipality of Haskerland from 1615 to 1650. The lettering on the decorative pediment over the door says ‘Mr Gritman Hobbe van Baerdt 1644'.

Carillon

Het carillon is misschien wel het bekendste buitenkunstwerk in Drachten. Het is ontworpen door Gunnar Daan en werd gebouwd in 1996.

Resistance plaque Gaastmeer

During the Second World War, hundreds of Allied planes crashed in the IJsselmeer. In the night of 14 to 15 October 1944, a Halifax bomber crashed in the IJsselmeer near Stavoren.

It Breahûs Church

It Breahûs was built in 1728 as a single-nave church with a gable tower and a constricted spire. Its excellent acoustics make it a wonderful venue for small concerts.

Wynia Lamsvlees

Hier bevindt zich het familiebedrijf van Jeljer en Sijke Wynia. Ze fokken schapen en zoogkoeien en hun dieren lopen zoveel mogelijk in de wei.

Hartwerd Bell Tower

In the Middle Ages there was a Romano-Gothic church where the Hartwerd bell tower now stands. It was very unusual for a little mound village such as Hartwerd to have its own parish church.

Rozengracht 15

Levie Messcher trouwt in 1931 met Catharina en vestigt zich in Harlingen als ‘vleeschhandelaar’. Rozengracht 15 is hun woonadres. In 1938 wordt dochtertje Hanna Klara geboren en een jaar later Klara Leanora.

De kerk is van binnen als van buiten bijzonder te noemen; het interieur kent een veelheid aan decoraties uit verschillende stijlperiodes, zo staat er bijvoorbeeld een doopvont uit de vijftiende eeuw.
