SKS Vaarroute sailing route

(135 km)

Experience the nostalgia of the traditional SKS Championship skûtsje sailing races and discover the unique charm and hospitality of the villages, towns and regions along the route.

SKS skippers and their crews have been racing Frisian skûtsjes along the waterways of the SKS Vaarroute sailing route for three-quarters of a century. There was no SKS Championship in the anniversary year because of the pandemic. However, the beautiful waterways used for the annual SKS races are more than just a sailing route through the Frisian countryside. Skûtsje racing has been put on hold for the moment, so this is a good time to explore the delights of these waterways. The places along the route of the SKS Championship are shown on the map so you can enjoy your own SKS experience on and near the water.
