The De Alde Feanen Experience Ferry Route

Enjoy a spectacular 41-kilometre bike ride through De Alde Feanen National Park. This route includes 4, 5 or 6 ferry rides that take you across water to yet another uniquely beautiful area.

The route starts and ends in the vibrant water sports village of Grou. You may well be tempted to spend the day hanging out on a terrace in Grou but there are many other beautiful places that you have yet to see!

Today you will cycle across De Burd island and discover the picturesque wetlands of De Alde Feanen National Park. (Be sure to bring your binoculars!) You will also pass a watchtower, ride through the villages of Earnewâld, Warten and Wergea, and see several mills and other historic buildings. Scenic ferry crossings along the way are an added bonus!

When it’s time for a rest, you can sit at one of the picnic tables at regular intervals along the route. There are also convivial café terraces in the little villages. Happy cycling!
